Summer France Les Cottages de Valjoly offer guests easy access to all of the attractions of the Valjoly tourist resort on the banks of the largest lake in Northern France. Our accommodation in the heart of the Avesnois National Park provides wonderful surroundings with views of the lake (for specific cottages), perfect for a relaxing yet adventurous break.

Located just five minutes from the centre of the Valjoly, the property is on the doorstep of the numerous activities that can be enjoyed in the Valjoly Holiday Park. Guests can take part in water sports and outdoor activities, and browse the many shops and restaurants. From here, guests will also find routes to the Belgian border, and the small towns of Eppe-Sauvage and Willies. Les Cottages de Valjoly is only two hours from Lille and Reims, and Belgium's capital city, Brussels.

The cottages

The ideal place to recharge batteries and enjoy the great outdoors, Les Cottages de Valjoly are spacious and airy, with stunning views over the grand lake (for specific cottages). These traditional wooden cottages are designed to fit with the landscape and the natural activity-based holiday this resort offers.

Cottages sleep two to eight guests, with modern neutral décor, large windows, and terraces with outdoor furniture, allowing guests to make the most of the fresh air. There is a cosy living room and fully equipped kitchen in each, complete with hot plates, a microwave, fridge, dishwasher and extractor fan, great for a self-catered stay.

Board options

Les Cottages de Valjoly are all self-catered so guests have total freedom to cook and eat what and when suits them.
There are five restaurants within the Valjoly resort, serving traditional French and Belgian cuisine, as well as international favourites. A small grocery shop nearby sells essentials for that all-important picnic, or guests can jump in the car and travel to one of the nearby towns for supermarkets, and a more extensive range of restaurants.

Valjoly

For a break from the rat race, head to the Valjoly lake on the edge of the Nord region, in north-eastern France. With the huge lake and extensive woods of the Avesnois National Park, Valjoly offers excellent activity-packed holidays for families, couples and groups. Aside from energy-fuelled things to do, Valjoly offers time for relaxation and contemplation, surrounded by the beautiful French countryside, and warmed by a mild climate and generous sunshine.

Just two hours from Lille, Brussels and Reims, and half an hour to the large town of Maubeuge, the Valjoly resort offers plenty of opportunities for guests looking to enjoy both the range of activities on site, and the surrounding area of the north-east of France and the west of Belgium.

Activities

With such a gorgeous lake, many of the attractions at Valjoly are focused on the water. Take part in sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, and pedalo trips, or head to the two outdoor and one indoor swimming pools (all chlorinated). There's a wave machine and slides, although note the strange rule that bans swimming trunks - only lycra-based swimwear is allowed in the pools! When it's time to dry off, explore the pretty grassy areas and dense woods of the Nostrimont forest with the extensive walks on offer. Take a picnic and find a dappled spot to enjoy an afternoon snooze in the warm weather. There are bicycles for hire, and animal lovers will enjoy horse riding, which includes splashing through the shallows of the lake. Take to the trees with a tree trek adventure course, take aim with archery and laser tag, or enjoy a game of mini golf. There are also trampolines, and the resort also offers a freshwater aquarium, with 50 species of local fish to spot and learn about.

Things to see

The region surrounding Valjoly offers plenty to do, with towns and villages ranging from a short walk to an all-day car journey.

Avesnes-sur-Helpe is a short drive away and offers interesting architecture to admire. Maubeuge has an impressive zoo, with white tigers and hippos as the main attraction.

Golf de Mormal is an hour's drive away, and boasts an 18-hole course and tasty club lunch. Pairi Daiza in Belgium is a wonderful animal park and botanical gardens, with cheeky lemurs, bats, sharks and elephants.

Activities

Payment conditions

Summer France offers 3 options for payment:

1) Pay in 3 instalments: 10% deposit at the time of booking, 10% two months before the date of arrival and the remaining balance one month before the date of arrival. This method of payment is only available for bookings made by telephone more than 70 days before the stay.
2) Pay in two instalments: 10% deposit at the time of booking and payment of the remaining balance 14 days before the date of arrival. This method of payment is only available when the booking is made more than 15 days before the arrival date.
3) Pay in 1 instalment: pay the full amount at the time of booking and receive a discount of 15 GBP on the overall price of the stay. This method of payment is valid for stays of 7 nights or more, booked more than 40 days before arrival and for a minimum purchase of 150 GBP.

- Any extras added more than 15 days prior to arrival will be added to the final payment
- Any extras added after the final payment to be paid at the time of addition to booking.
-If the booking was made under the 'non refundable' terms, the total amount will be debited at the time of the booking (the discount of 15 GBP is not available on these prices).

Methods of payment accepted:
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, cheques*, holiday vouchers*.
*(only for reservations made more than a month before arrival).
For payments desired by cheque or holiday vouchers the deposit must be paid by way of debit/credit card - Visa, Mastercard, American Express and the second and/or third payment can be made by cheque or holiday voucher.
Arrival date less than 15 days: The total amount of the booking must be paid in full online, by debit/credit card at the time of booking.

Cancellation conditions

- If you choose Standard Conditions

If the client cancels a reservation the following amounts will be retained:
-More than 30 days before the date of arrival: 30% of the price of the holiday
-Between 30 days and 21 days before arrival: 45% of the price of the holiday
-Between 20 days and 8 days before arrival: 60% of the price of the holiday
-Between 7 days and 4 days before arrival: 90% of the price of the holiday
-Less than 3 days before arrival: 100% of the price of the holiday

- If you choose Free Cancellation Conditions

If the client cancels a reservation the following amounts will be retained:
-More than 30 days before the arrival date: repayment of the deposit
-Between 30 days and the date of arrival: 100% of the total price will be retained.
-No show: the total price of the reservation will be retained

- If you choose Non Refundable Conditions

As part of the low price non-refundable offer, in the case of a cancellation you will be invoiced for the total amount at any time
