Situated in southern France, Marseillan is a small fishing village most notably recognised for its oysters, mussels and sea bass. The village is lined with picturesque quays and authentic, locally run restaurants with excellent views of the port.

The Canal du Midi flows through into the Thau lagoon here and is the ideal excuse for a river cruise or boat trip to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Marseillan. Further inland, the village is home to a range of daily markets selling fresh fish, herbs, olives and much more, offering a great opportunity to explore the local culture.

Aqualand Cap D'Age

This water park makes for a great day out for all of the family to enjoy. Just a 20 minute drive from Marseillan, Aqualand boasts rides such as the black hole, a surf beach and a conga river. With water slides and flumes galore, plus an area just for the little ones, this park makes for a great day out for both adults and children.


Just a 30 minute drive from Marseillan lies Beziers, a town steeped in history and culture. The 13th century Cathédrale St-Nazaire is the main attraction here along with an indoor food market and several outdoor activities ranging from tree-top adventures to boat tours and wine tasting trips. A day spent here is a great way to get in touch with the local culture, without venturing too far from your home base.

Regional delicacies

Aside from seafood, Marseillan has plenty to offer in the way of top quality food. Home to La Table d'Emilie and Chez Philippe, which have both been listed in the Michelin Guide, this town is somewhat of a hotspot when it comes to fine dining. With markets being held almost every day of the week, offering seasonal fruit and vegetables, Marseillan is an ideal location for a self-catering holiday. And with the nearby towns of Agde and Bessan also hosting markets, visitors here are spoilt for choice.

Fine wines

Marseillan is a wine-lover's haven as it is home to two wine cellars distributing a wide variety of wines to the region. Les Caves Richemer use 12 different grape varieties, ranging from dry whites to rich reds. Whilst Noilly Prat is also based in Marseillan and offers a range of quality French vermouths made solely from white grapes. The Noilly Prat cellars are also open to the public for guided tours which talk you through the fascinating production process.
